DAY 6 - SANUR

It’s a bright and early start today (3am) to reach the peak of Mt Batur in time to witness a mind-blowing sunrise over the valleys of Bali on an optional walk. Volcanic Mt Batur (1717 m) sits inside a striking caldera, and with Lake Batur below it's an astonishing sightThe lake sustains the local fishing industry, while many of the villagers work as guides for the volcano climb.

The walk takes 2 hours, and yes, it's STEEP but worth it!

On a clear morning, you can see all the way across the Lombok Strait to the peaks of Lombok's Mt Rinjani. For the adventurous, it may be an option to walk the narrow paths right around the volcano rim (max. 1 hour). After descending the volcano, take a well deserved soak in hot springs with amazing views over the lake and caldera.

Notes: You need appropriate walking shoes, head torch, waterproof jacket and warm clothing for Mt. Batur and Bedugul. While these are possible to buy in Bali, you might prefer to bring from home to ensure correct fit and quality.

Accommodation: Puri Dalem Hotel or similar

Day 7: TETEBATU

This morning we'll transfer to the port town of Padang Bai and take the slow ferry to Lombok. Lombok is beautiful, and people are predominantly Muslim rather than Hindu, so Lombok is a contrast from what you have just experienced. We will then travel to Tetebatu, which can take between 3-4 hours, The hill retreat of Tetebatu is a fantastic location situated in the centre of Lombok at the base of Mt. Rinjani, so fab views of the region!
