Introduction

So you fancy getting away but not really sure what to do...?! How about getting your hands dirty and experiencing a working holiday on an Australian Ranch!? If you like the outdoors, animals and earning money then this will be perfect for you! This programme can lead to work that allows you to sign off for your 2nd year visa. It is truly a unique way of living, you will be placed on a farm in South East Queensland with other like minded travellers and the work begins. Gapseekers have partnered with a family run team in SE Queensland that has been preparing and placing young people in rural and outback jobs since 1991. Nearly 10,000 people have used our services in that time, so be assured you are in good hands!

The Work

Most of the jobs we provide are outdoor farm work but we also offer positions in Rural Hospitality or in Teaching and Childcare. 

Farm Work:

  • Mustering sheep/cattle on motorbikes or horseback
  • Working with horses at polo, racing, show jumping & eventing stables
  • Driving tractors, headers, graders, dozers and farm machinery
  • General farm work of all sorts: checking dams, troughs, pipes,welding and mechanical tasks - General maintenance of machinery, yard work with cattle and sheep 

Rural Hospitality:

  • In outback pubs, hotels and resorts behind the bar, help in the kitchen, in housekeeping - at outback stations as a cook at the homestead or as a camp cook

Homestead Helper:

  • As a nanny or au pair looking after the children
  • Helping with distance education and teaching
  • Cleaning the house, gardening and looking after the pets

What's Included?

  • Membership period up to 365 days 
  • Programme starts every Thursday 
  • Airport pickup from Brisbane Airport, bus transfer to Noosa and to training farms 
  • 4 days jetlag recovery at Halse Lodge (Backpackers by the Beach) Noosa 
  • 5 days introductory farm training & safety course including food and accommodation
