Trip Notes

Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City




Xin Chao! Welcome to Vietnam! Today is an arrival day, there will be a pre-departure meeting at 6 pm in the hotel, please look for a note in the lobby or ask receptionist for location of meeting. If you can not make the meeting as flight times do not match, you can always arrive a day before and we can help you sort out pre accommodation for you. We will be collecting insurance details and next of kin so make sure you have it ready. 

Ho chi Minh, formally known as Saigon has so much to offer, different smells, tasty food to try, it has a fascinating blend of new and old, East and West. Ho chi Minh has a French influence which is evident in restaurants, architecture and the street baguette you can buy with Vietnamese style filling! The majority of the food outlets spill out on the street with adds to the hustle and bustle of the city and creates a lively atmosphere for all to enjoy. If you arrive early explore ancient Pagodas, historic Dong Street and the bustling markets of Ben Thanh and Cholon (Chinatown). Tonight will be an optional dinner with your new friends.

Day 2: Mekong Delta

Day 2: Today we will head down to the Mekong Delta, but on the way visit the unexplored Ben Tre - famous for coconut. We will then alight our private boat and cruise along the maze of the waterways of the Delta. We will then head to our overnight home stay on the waterway, enjoy the local lifestyle.

Accommodation- Mekong Homestay- Simple camp beds in shared dorm style room

Meals- Lunch and Dinner

Day 3: Overnight Train

After breakfast we will make our way back to Ho chi Minh city and board an over night train to Nha Trang (Approx 11 hours) This is a fun way to get from A to B! Although basic the beds are comfortable and it is all part of the experience.

Day 4: Nha Trang

We will arrive in Nha Trang at approx 5am and transfer you to hotel. Nha Trang was once referred to as the ‘Cannes of the Orient’  and what a beautiful place it is. Sandy, palm lined beaches with island dotted in the ocean which make for a perfect photo!

Day 5:  Nha Trang/Overnight Train

Enjoy your day lazing on the beaches and taking in your idyllic surroundings, check out the delicious seafood restaurants or try the street food. Tonight we will board an overnight train to Danang (Approx. 8 hours)

Day 6: Hoi An

We will arrive early in Danang and travel by mini bus to Hoi An (aprox 1 hour). Hoi An was recently named a world heritage site and is beautifully restored and preserved. A graceful city that is best explored on foot as there are so many back streets with cafes, markets, food stalls. If you want to buy a high quality tailored suit for a cheap as chips price then Hoi An is the place for you. Hiring bikes is also a great way to explore the cities Pagoda’s and green rice paddies.

Day 7: Hoi An

No better way to view Hoi Ans historical sights then on a bike. Your leader will take you off the beaten track you will ride pass lush green rice paddies and small creeks, this is a true insight into country living in Vietnam.

Day 8: Hoi An

 Day 9: Hue

We will depart this morning, there are a few stunning stops on the way- China Beach (officially known as My Khe Beach). We will cross the dramatic Hai Van Pass to the picturesque village of Lang Co, we will then carry on to Hue (approx 5 hours including stops). Hue was once the imperial capitol of Vietnam and holds treasure of the vietnams royal past with palaces and shrines. You have a free day to explore…why not check out the Imperial Citadel, including the forbidden Purple City which was almost destroyed in the Vietnam War, why not take a dragon Boat cruise on the perfume river?

Day 10: Hue

Today is a free day to explore, why not check out the imperial citadel or the Royal tomb?

Day 11: Hue/Overnight Train

Today you will have some free time and later in the afternoon you will board the overnight train to Hanoi, Approximately 12 hours.

Day 12: Hanoi

We will arrive around 4 am in Hanoi and be transferred to your hotel. Hanoi, Vietnam's capitol has a certain charm, with its beautiful lakes, lively Old Quarter and shaded boulevards.There is plenty to do from markets, temples to museums, the National Museum of Vietnamese History being one of them, test out all that lovely street food. We will take a walking tour of the Old Quarter and visit the Don Xuan market, Saunter down the ancient “36 streets” where you can discover an array of exciting traditional shops.

Day 13: Halong Bay

Today we will head to the stunning Halong Bay, which will blow your mind, just stunning! We will drive through the Red River Delta to Halong Bay (approx 4 hours). Halong Bay is a stunning secluded harbour with over 2,000 limestone islands rising out from the green waters of Bac Bo Gulf. This is one of Vietnam's scenic gems and not to be missed. The area was created by waves and winds over thousands of years. We will board a boat and cruise around this breath taking bay with Limestone karsts rising above emerald waters. Enjoy a delicious seafood lunch on board, explore the limestone caves, take a swim in the warmer months.

Day 14-15:  Hanoi

We shall take a ferry and bus back to Hanoi (Approx. 3 hours) where you will have some free time to explore more of Hanoi and there will be an optional group dinner to say bye to your lovely new friends.

The trip will end on the morning of Day 15.

There are no activities planned today and you are free to leave accommodation at any time.
